000 Right Middle Lobe (RML) Lung (anatomy)

The right middle lobe is one of the three lobes of the right lung,
located between the right upper lobe and the right lower lobe. It is
smaller than the other lobes and is separated from the upper lobe
by the horizontal fissure and from the lower lobe by the oblique
fissure. The RML consists of two bronchopulmonary segments: the
lateral and medial segments. Due to its anatomical position and
narrower bronchus, the RML is more prone to obstruction, leading
to conditions like atelectasis, pneumonia, and middle lobe
syndrome, which can cause recurrent infections.
